MART Core Switch RFR-5-17-18
The Montachusett Regional Transit Authority (MART) is requesting prposals from qualified contractors/vendors for Technology Improvement Project (TIP) we have worked with our MSP (Managed Service Provider) in conducting a site survey to go over our current infrastructure and what our future needs will be for continued growth as the leading Brokerage provider for HST. The following equipment should be considered for MART to achieve this project. This is broken down in to four categories. Virtual Machine Infrastructure, SAN (Storage Area Network), Core Network Switching, Backup and Recovery. Our MSP will provide installation and Professional Services.
The scope for this document is associated with our Core Switching Environment. We currently have two Cisco 3850 48port switches that are stacked together. This means we basically have a 96 port switch with 1GB links. When conducting some testing it was noticed that many times throughout the day the CPU utilization on the switch is maxed out at 100%. To keep up with today’s technology in networking we decided on the Cisco Nexus 93180YC this is a 48 port switch with Optical Fiber. This will allow us to connect with 10Gb fiber from outside. A vast improvement from our current configuration. The core switch also connects to the SAN for high speed data transfer 100Gb/s links. Below are the devices required for this.
